Kristen Anne Bell (born 1980) is an American actress and singer. She was born and raised in Huntington Woods, Michigan, and is the daughter of Lorelei (Frygier) and is an RN, and Tom Bell, a television news director. Kristen was born in Huntington Woods, Michigan, to the family of a Polish mother and a father that was German, English Irish, Scottish as well as Irish. Kristen's talents for performing were discovered at a very young age. She won her role as Raggedy Ann in 1992 after going to the first audition. Bell's mom signed her up at an agency prior to when she turned 13; she was then featured in TV commercials as well as newspaper advertisements. Additionally, she began to take classes in acting privately. Bell had a minor role, uncredited on the film Polish Wedding (1998), in 1998. Bell went to Shrine Catholic High School and was in the band as well as the drama club. The Wizard of Oz was presented by the high school and she took home the part as Dorothy. Bell later moved in New York City, to the Tisch School of the Arts. She studied musical theater there. Bell quit university in 2001 and began playing the character of Becky of Tom Sawyer. In the same year, she starred in Pootie Tang However, the scene where she appeared was cut. As a result, only her credit sequence exists. Bell made an appearance in Broadway for the first time in The Crucible, a revival with Liam Neeson with Angela Bettis.
